Last Tuesdays Poetry – a regular event series occurring on the final Tuesday of the month at Barnes & Noble bookstore in Vancouver, WA – will dedicate its January 28 2014 event to celebrating William Stafford. Our featured guests, Shelley Reece and Leah Stenson will each speak briefly about various aspects of William Stafford’s work.
Stenson will speak about Stafford’s advocacy for social justice, and will read some of Stafford’s and her own poetry. She is a member of the board of Friends of William Stafford, and host of the Studio Series readings in Portland.
Reece will speak about the Kansas origins of Stafford, and ways in which these come through in his poems. He is a former chair of the board of FWS and retired professor of English at Portland State.
We will also be featuring a new book entitled We Belong in History, published by Ooligan Press. It contains poems written by school students from the Oregon area that are responses to the work of Mr. Stafford. Click here for a link to the book.
The popular event series features a combination of featured authors and open mic performers. Click here for a link to more information on the Barnes & Noble website in Vancouver.
