The Centennial of former Oregon Poet Laureate William Stafford’s birth will be celebrated Thursday, January 16, 2014, 7:00 P.M., in the Meese Meeting Room #305, Hannon Library, SOU. Featured poets Lawson Inada, Priscilla Hunter, Amy MacLennen, Joan Peterson, and Paul Suter will read Stafford poems and one of their own, including several Stafford poems in Spanish and Swedish. Audience members will then be invited to read a favorite William Stafford poem. The program will conclude with an excerpt of William Stafford reading a poem and talking about it from the documentary “What the River Says.”
